Chandigarh, March 20, 2025 – Chandigarh Railway Station has issued yet another set of changes or so-called “improvements” to the travel amenities and hygiene standards at the station to provide greater convenience to tourism. This modification is part of the modernization plan started by Indian Railways, to offer more world-class facilities at Indian railway stations.
Important Updates and Features Change: Chandigarh Railway Station
Digital Information Displays– The new digital display boards at the station have now been completed. Now, passengers will receive real-time information regarding the arrival and departure of trains, as well as platform changes, for better communication.
Modern Waiting Lounges: To better adjust the expectation of an increase in passenger traffic, further seating has also been provided, which enhances the accommodation of passengers during the peak hours. Also, modern facilities such as charging ports and WiFi have also been installed in waiting lounges, thus improving the comfort level.
Controlled Access Entry Management Systems: Passenger safety has been further enhanced by the addition of new Advanced CCTV surveillance cameras. Moreover, the new automatic security turnstiles enable better flow management of passengers coming in and out of the station.
Elevated Cleanliness And Standards: The station claimed that it will now undertake more controlled and enhanced cleaning schedules about hygiene standards, concentrating on toilets and waiting areas, food courts, and other frequently cleaned surfaces. The works to remove all cleaning equipment have also been completed.
Smart Parking Facilities: With the new digitized parking system, passengers can now conveniently pre-book their parking slots which helps ease congestion for a considerable number of travelers arriving by car.
Solar panels have also been installed on the roofs of the station to help conserve solar energy and reduce the carbon footprint of the station.
A senior official from the railways noted, while speaking about the upgrades, “world-class services to passengers remain our focus and these are merely a step in that direction.” They added, “We are trying to make Chandigarh Railway Station a paradigm of efficiency, cleanliness, and comfort.”
